I finally got my baby back!!!

My mac is home safe and sound with a new mother board/graphics card and now it works GREAT!!!

No more computer withdrawal!

Ok, I've taken my mac into the Apple Store for the second time in a week. This time it was for a catastrophic failure. Apparently the graphics card that my mac uses has a defect that Apple issued a service bulletin for. Unfortunately, you won't know if your mac has a defective card until it actually goes south. Well, mine did! And it's not just a simple switch of the card. No, my baby is a MacBook Pro that has the graphics card soldered to the mother board. This "defect" basically makes the mother board toast. OH JOY!!!

So, now, I have no mac for at least a week while it gets sent out for the repair since they do not keep the part in stock. And to add insult to injury, the toasted mother board also toasted the fans that cool said mother board. At this rate, I'll have a new mac without having to buy a new mac with all the stuff that has been replaced so far.

Thank God hubby has a working mac that I have temporarily commandeered.

Just heard that Obama just got awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for changing the mood of the world by saying we should have peace and cooperation.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!

Peace and cooperation are wonderful things to shoot for, but the man has only been in office for 9 months. HE HASN"T DONE JACK SHIT YET!!!!!

He's made promises and hasn't done anything to contribute, talk goes only so far.

He was nominated two weeks after he took office. What Accomplishments did he have TWO WEEKS INTO OFFICE.

He won the prize for talk. The committee has made themselves look like idiots.

Not bad Apple. Took mac baby in yesterday and got it back toady. You guys done good.

Now, I'm a happy camper!

Just got a call from the Apple Store. My new WiFi card is in, ready and waiting for me to bring this sucker in. The only bad thing about it that, they said it would take three to five days before I get this thing back.

So, Now I'm going through the boring ritual of clearing out over 6000 files (already backed up to other medium) from one HD so that I can back up my laptop. Nothing like waiting several hours for the backup to be done. I'll have tons of client files (all video and audio), my kids' home work and another ton of miscellaneous files that I won't be able to get access to until hubby gets home and I steal his Mac away from him. Which the odds of that happening are slim to none. (He's as much of a Mac head as I am, actually more so.)

The thing that pisses me off is, I know were the card is located on this thing and I know how to install it. But if I want to do it myself, I'll void the warranty. I know putting the card in DOES NOT take 3-5 days, 2-3 hours at most.

UGH! Why can't they just say to bring it in first thing in the morning and you get it back in the afternoon!

At least I don't have any pressing projects (ones that are due within the next week or so), so I do have some time to do without it. I just don't like being without it.

It's times like this that I wish I had a better backup Mac than the one I do have. An old, loaded Mac G4 desktop is not my ideal Mac anymore. Do get me wrong, I can still do my work from that one, it just takes 4 times longer to get files rendered from it. And that it is wasted time!

This sort of describes my feelings to the wonderful geriatric drivers out there. Ready or Not...

My kid loves me today. I've been feeling like shit and decided to "postpone" her lessons for right now. We haven't done one bit of school work as of yet. The only thing I've been up to doing was the take her to BK for lunch.

As a side thought, does anyone else think the BK "king" is the freakiest thing you ever saw?

Back to my rambling ... I know I should have her do at least the work that doesn't require my brain to teach her, but I just can't get myself going enough to do that.

Maybe when hubby gets home, I'll have him do her math lesson for the day. At least that'll be something ... .

Maybe by the time he gets home, I'll be feeling better. I hope.

I was looking back on my rant from earlier and saw a bit that I need to clarify. Not that it matters to anyone else, but it matters to me. I've had comments come back to bite me in the ass, so for my own piece of mind, I'm clarifying.

Yes, I was a graphic designer for 15 years, but only the last 5 of those 15 were with a Fortune 500. In all honesty, I'm not sure if my other employers were on the Fortune 500 as I never bothered to look. In fact, the others don't even matter, as they no longer exist having been bought out by other companies a couple of time over.

Feel better now for putting this down.

Okay, I know this is petty, but for some stupid reason this is REALLY bugging me so if you're interested keep reading. If not, move along, move along, there's nothing to see. 'These aren't the droids you're looking for...'

I'm ranting about FFN. I know I'm not the best writer out there. Hell, I know that my stuff sucks, but I post anyway. My ego doesn't need stroking like some writers on FFN, but is it TOOOOO much to ask for one fucking review there!!!

Run-on rant alert!!!!!!

I don't care if you love or hate my drabbles, but to see writers (I use that term very loosely) who can't spell, or at the very least use a spell checker, whose grammar is so poor that it makes me wonder how they got through school, or seeing sentences that are so poorly constructed that you have to read it multiple times just to figure out what they are saying, get several reviews stating that "This is the best thing I ever read" REALLY pisses me off!!! What ever happened to using proper grammar? What ever happened to proper spelling? What ever happened to VOCABULARY?!?!?!?!?

To see these folks use 'ware' when they mean 'where' or 'there' for 'they're' or my favorite 'hear' for 'here' and get rave reviews is just so disheartening. Seeing SHIT like that get a following makes me wonder if it's even worth keeping this account open. Hell, it makes me wonder if I should even bother writing anything down.

My hubby knows that I write to use it as a sling-shot for when I get frustrated while editing videos professionally, to get the creative juices flowing again and get my client projects done within the contracted time frame. I write for fun, but I still make sure (or at least try to) that everything is spelled correctly, that my grammar is correct and that it makes some sense to the reader.

If you like it, tell me. If you hate it, tell me. You will not hurt my feelings. I have a very thick skin. I was a graphic designer for 15 years with a Fortune 500. I'm a photographer/videographer/editor now. I'm used to people telling me "It Sucks".

I don't want fake complements. I'm not afraid of negative comments like some are.

Ugh, this video is going to be the death of me. Ran a few simulations in high resolution and all the key framing I did in low res in not looking right in high res. Spent most of the night and most of the day so far trying to fix the keying. This is really starting to ware on me.
